This past weekend I hosted an early Halloween party. If you're anything like me, you wait until the very last minute to get everything ready for the party. But, somehow, I pulled it off! I am going to share all of the food, drinks, and decor I grabbed last minute so I could pull this spooky themed party off!
Pinterest is my life saver! I go to Pinterest for everything. This is where I found the ideas on what food to serve for the party. Head to your local grocery store and grab these snacks to create a skull snack board and a pumpkin snack board. Some may describe them as charcuterie boards, but they're mostly full of unheathly snacks... everyone's favorites! See the photos below as well, to know exactly what they are supposed to look like.
Skull Snack Board:
Mini powdered donuts
Yogurt covered pretzels
Peanuts
Mini marshmallows
White cheddar cheese popcorn
String cheese
Black licorice
Raisins
Pumpkin Snack Board:
Cheeto Puffs
Peanut butter crackers
Cheddar cheese slices
Cheeze itz
Goldfish
Blueberries
Carrots
Clementine Cuties
As far as drinks go, I made it real simple on myself and told all of the guests that it was an Octoberfest themed party! The invitation stated, "Bring your best beer and your best scare". That way, all I had to buy was coke & sprite and allowed everyone else to bring whatever they enjoyed most.
And, finally, the decor! I felt as thought the snack boards already gave a lot of character to the party, but I had to add a few little extra touches. Saturday morning I headed to the Farmers Market where I bought a whole bunch of dried flowers. I stuck those in a few small vases around the house. I also bought two bags of the fake cob webs and strung those up around the light fixture in my kitchen and along my fireplace mantel. Lastly, I bought a pack of fake mini spiders and scattered them out on my dining room table, living room coffee table, and hid them in random places to attempt to scare people from time to time.
Overall, the party was a hit! The snack boards definitely filled everyone up and people were able to enjoy their own yummy drinks. The decor was not over the top but was just the right amount of spook. I highly recommend getting some of your closest friends together and encouraging costumes! We saw farmers, mobsters, rockstars, and even Hannibal Lector himself.
